Woman And Breast Surgery

Breast SurgeryBritain’s Daily Mail, inexhaustible source of news for the Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, tells the story of a woman who placed a mesh in their breasts to enhance them.

According to Daily Mail plastic surgeons inserted a cone-shaped polyester mesh beneath the skin of the breast and attach it to the fascia, under the fat layer. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia.

The plastic surgeon says Humzah Dalvi Breform (the name of this invention) is “like a strapless bra cup. He explains “Once installed, the body produces a fibrous tissue that holds the mesh in place as a permanent support.”

I read that in tests conducted in the Netherlands, 60 percent of women who performed the procedure did not have the need for a bra. I also read that in the world have already been conducted 600 operations like this. The surgery lasted about 4 hours and it takes two days of hospitalization. Like other surgeries of the breast, can not sleep face down the first few weeks.

The device is similar to what has for years used in the repair of hernias.

Experts in the UK have called for caution. The device Breform (name of the mesh) is licensed in Europe but not approved by U.S. FDA Mr Rajiv Grover, a plastic surgeon said: “Anything that is placed on the chest, as an implant mesh or cloth, should be monitored duarente at least ten years to ensure it does not become harmful to the body with the time. ” There is also concern about the risk of cancer and problems with breastfeeding if the patient becomes pregnant and her breasts are too large for the internal bra.
However, a trial in the Netherlands made to 170 women who were operated for four and a half years, found no serious complications in the breasts of women who had this kind of internal bra.

Recently published a similar operation: Test an internal bra to reaffirm the chest.
I have little faith in these procedures, only time will determine whether or not they succeed, especially if complications arise in the medium to long term. I do not think that by now can compete on safety and results with traditional breast surgery (mastopexy).
